Used as the male aspect in various ceremonies and rituals, an Athame (pronounced adth-am-ay), is an important tool when working Magick and Healing process.

Representing elements of Air and Fire, Athames are not used for cutting or piercing except symbolicaly and are coupled with a Chalice or bowl (Water) for the symbolic union of Male and Female aspects, as in th eGreat Rite of intercourse, to procduce fertility and fecundity.

An Athame invokes, gathers, sends, and uses the Yang/Male principles:

Imagine a Two Headed Dragon.
One head represents the "yin" qualities and the other is the "yang". One Dragon, two opposing heads.

Yang or Regal Lord qualities are:

  • hot
  • hard
  • loud
  • outward
  • agitating
  • expansive
  • open
  • bright
  • challenging
  • mighty defender

Yin or Regal Lady qualities are:

  • cool
  • soft
  • quiet
  • inward
  • comforting
